Today some women from the Navajo culture came to school. They were there to talk to the 2nd graders, but also came by to tell Charlotte and I something very interesting about our topic, owl legends and history.
They told us that owls are symbols of death to people in the Navajo culture. If an owl came close to a hospital it meant someone in the hospital was going to die.
One of the ladies told us about a time when she and her husband were driving. They were just driving when they saw an owl on the side of the road on a tree branch. they were both very surprised! About two miles down the road there had been a big car crash and a few people had been killed.
I wonder if an owl really does cause death.
