This is the true story of the sailing ship Mary Celeste that was discovered adrift at sea in 1872 with none of her crew or passengers left aboard, as retold by a young girl who wants to be a detective and solve unsolved mysteries. The real mystery has yet to be solved, but some of the theories of what happened are summarized at the end of this book. The reader will also learn a bit about square rigged sail boats and nautical terms.

While the story is fictional it is based on the historical realities of immigration, coal mining, labor unrest, and Polish culture.
