New Books in Estabrook's Library -May 1999

Here are a few of the many new books purchased with the proceeds of the 1999 PTA Book Fair.

Sixteen poems about real Americans from Paul Revere to Neil Armstrong.

Redcoats and Petticoats by Katherine Kirkpatrick, illustrated by Ronald Himmler, Holliday House, New York, 1999
A spy story based on the actual Setauket long Island ring that brought information about the British occupiers of New York to the revolutionaary war patriots in Connecticut from 1778 to 1784.

Katie Meets the Impressionists by James Mayhew, Orchard Books, New York, 1997

Good Enough to Eat: A Kids Guide to Food and Nutrition by Lizzy Rockwell, Harper Collins, New York, 1999
This appetizingly photographed book describes the six categories of nutrients, how they work in the body, and some of the foods that provide each.

Look-Alikes by Joan Steiner, photography by Thomas Lindley, Little Brown & Co.,1998
Everyday objects are concealed in each of the eleven scenes in Look-Alike Land (a land constructed of three dimensional collages of found objects carefully arranged and photographed) and poems challenge the reader to find and identify them.
