New Books in Estabrook's Library -May 2005

These are all new books purchased with some of the proceeds of the 2005 Estabrook PTA Book Fair. They have topics that range from Werewolves to Whales.

A collection of sixty poems by various famous poets like Walt Whitman and Langston Hughes and others lesser known, including Anonymous, with the common theme that they all relate to some calendar date or season.

Sabertooths and the Ice Age: A Nonfiction Companion to Sunset of the Sabertooth by Mary Pope Osborne and Natalie Pope Boyce, illustrated by Sal Murdocca, Random House Children's Books, New York, NY 2005
This book is a children's research guide to the Ice Age and not just about sabertooth tigers, since it includes the story of the early people who lived then as well as describing the variety of other animals that lived at that time. It includes reference sections that suggest videos, books, Internet sites and museum exhibits about the Ice Age to study further.

This elegantly illustrated book tells the story of an hour of karate practice in rhyme and than follows up with a prose description of some of the rules and the various degree belts.

A book of stories drawn from folktales, traditional lore and legends about hidden folk who are never seen in ordinary circumstances.

The fictional, or possibly even true, story of a Minneapolis Millers baseball game in 1903, when Andy Oyler, the shortest player in the league, became a hero by hitting the shortest, muddiest home run in history.

The other woodland creatures are concerned for the wellbeing of a newborn white-tailed fawn they believe is abandoned in the woods.
